Bars and restaurants are expecting good results from Father's Day. A survey conducted by the Associação Brasileira de Bares e Restaurantes (Abrasel) shows that 78% of establishments plan to open their doors on Father's Day Sunday, and among them, more than half (65%) expect to bring in up to 20% more compared with last year.

The date comes at an opportune moment for these businesses. The same survey reveals an alarming figure for the sector: 60% of companies operated without making a profit in June. Of that total, 36% of establishments are breaking even, while 24% recorded a loss. In addition, 40% of companies have overdue debts, reflecting the challenges the sector faces.

Business owners expect to increase revenue with Father's Day

Although it is an occasion that generates less revenue than Mother's Day and Valentine's Day, Father's Day delivers an important result that impacts the finances of bars and restaurants. According to Thiago Rosseau, Corporate Operations Manager at Grupo Geppos, in Fortaleza, he expects a 15% increase in revenue compared with an ordinary Sunday.

Andreo Bastos, CEO of Amazonas Peixaria, in Amapá, sees the date as a chance to bring in revenue throughout Sunday. “Unlike Valentine's Day, which is more associated with dinners, Father's Day can drive both lunch and dinner”, he says. He also reveals that on special occasions the restaurant's revenue rises between 20% and 35%.

Seven states away, Cleia Ziebert, owner of Buono Beach, in Florianópolis, is already getting ready for August 11. “We'll launch a few special dishes to catch families' attention and bring them to the venue. Last year we had a 30% increase in revenue compared with an ordinary Sunday. The result exceeded my expectations”, she reveals.

Faced with a challenging scenario, Father's Day emerges as a valuable opportunity for bars and restaurants to improve their financial performance. With expectations of higher revenue and well-planned strategies, such as special menus and marketing campaigns, establishments are ready to attract families and thus create a customer loyalty opportunity. Desta forma, enquanto os empresários se preparam para receber um público disposto a celebrar a data, a festividade promete trazer um alívio econômico para o setor.
